And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I've seen a few Sierra Redwoods that are almost that big.
I took a nice photo of my 5'7" wife standing arms spread at the base of a Sequoia. People would look at it and say, Oh, a tree.
Then I would reply, Look at the base, what do you see? It would take a bit then their face would light up. Holy cow, that tree is massive! And they are.
With a normal lens, I had to stand about fifty feet back to get the whole base.
When my wife and i walked thru the Sequoias we could almost feel like time stood still there in the forest. Makes you feel small being around the giants
They're nice, but the Sequoias are the king.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea just how massive they are until you stand in front of one.
"Sierra Redwoods" (Sequoiadendron Giganteum) are the same thing as Sequoias.
