And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis during their "3AM Mayhem" set at the Copacabana, 1949.
Maybe I missed something , but , I never thought Jerry Lewis was even remotely close to funny. He acted like a total retard and after about a minute and a half that gets old.
Jerry Lewis always just creeped me out. His saving grace was that he was a good guy who did a lot of good... That said, I just can't watch him "perform"...
I'm in agreement with some other comments. Jerry Lewis was never even in the same county as funny. At one point it was obvious he got on Dean's nerves too and in one of the vids that survive you can hear him say to Jerry, out loud and on stage, "ok, we're done" after some painful antic Lewis performed on him.
Jerry's shoe looks like it has "taps" attached to the sole.

ReplyDeleteSame with Jim Carey. Now Curly Howard...that's funny.
DeleteAgree, complete retard.
DeleteYet the French loved him... leave it at that.
DeleteLove Martin, loathe Lewis.

ReplyDeleteI also found Jerry Lewis annoying.
