And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Titanium BLUE Dial - The Original Dive Watch
I haven't worn a watch in over 20 years. Comes from working in places I don't want conductors touching my flesh. I've had a couple of lesser dive watches rated to 50M and 100M respectively. Both failed at less than 20M. One on the first dive of the second day and the second watch a year later on the second dive on the third day. My dive computer has been to 35M still kicking.
Come August I won't be needing a watch. Maybe I'll get one of those clocks that keep track of the day of the week. Or maybe one that tells the tide stage.
Rolex alternative.
ReplyDeleteThe last 2 verses of "Sir Patrick Spens", an anonymous Scottish Folk Song:
ReplyDeleteAnd lang, lang may the maidens sit
Wi their gowd kames in their hair,
A-waitin for their ane dear loes!
For them they’ll see nae mair.
Half-ower, half-ower to Aberdour,
Tis fifty fathoms deep;
An there lies gude Sir Patrick Spens,
Wi the Scots lords at his feet!
What's $10-15K for guys like us?
