And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I remember watching an Episode of Game of Thrones in which a very old grand dame was instructing her beautiful granddaughter (who was to be married to the king) in the proper use of feminine wiles, as she used back in her day. I thought, sure, granny—until I realized that was Diana Rigg, recognized in the 60s as one of the most beautiful women in the wotld.
