And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Pretty sure that is 'Star Gap Arch'. Trailhead for this area is at the end of Tunnel Ridge Road a gravel NFS road. Been there twice but that's now 'back in the day'. Used to do a lot of backpacking in the Gorge year round.
They call Red River Gorge 'The Land of the Arches' there are, I forget the exact number, many of these in the area. I have been to at least 15 myself over the years. Some are small 'windows' just holes through the rock others as massive as Star Gap, Sky Bridge and Gray's Arch. Rock Bridge even arches over a small river. Fascinating place. Some believe it is the home of the lost Jonathan Swift silver mine. A tale from colonial times.
