  1. Right between the engines was a good nap spot while crew chief and #2 man were running diagnostic checks

  3. Live up in the Sandwich Notch, NH, when those bad ass boys are flying, my wife starts sunbathing nekkid, (well enough endowed to be seen by those guys), if they are up there they come by, give us a great airshow right over the house, upside down, barrel rolls, slide-ways, fantastic maneuverability to say the least, I think everyone has a great time. We love it.

  4. Russians sure use their SU-25's to great effect, but they are using a lot of unguided rickets, like flying artillery, can't help admire both aircraft, as they are the worlds true combat jets, for all the billions spent on hi-tech wonder weapon aircraft, these two "lowly" lo-tech old school ground attack/close air support birds perform superbly, have excellent flight rates, and are lowest cost per hour of both countries inventory of war birds. Says a lot right there don't you think?

  5. First and favorite Revell model aircraft I built, hung over the bed in place of high honor. Looking back those kits where awesome, super detail, my favorite part was painting and placing the stickers on, did mine up in flat Vietnam style, Woodland Camo, made it look even meaner.

  6. The USAF is retiring them as fast as they can get away with ... an F-35 with a 25mm gun and 180 rds can do half the job at 10x the cost, after all.

  7. I love those planes. Wish I could have been a pilot in one. Those pilots are real lucky being able to support ground troops so well.

  8. Love that pig. 16 of my 21 active duty years were spent as a crew chief on them. Saw a lot of changes from the old 1975 year A models I started on to when they started fielding C models just as I was retiring.

    1. Why do they want so bad to get rid of the A10? I mean they cost a pittance compared to say the F35?

  9. Years ago, I played a fantastic A-10 computer simulation game. Forgot the name at this time. Got to know the cockpit with all the bells and whistles. Fun times.

  10. Used to have a camp on a river not all that far from an Army base and these things were regular flyovers. But another time we were hiking a trail back on the river on one of those dead still late Summer days with only insects buzzing and we got sonic boomed by something. We literally went to ground it was so unexpected.

  12. Hey, President Trump, why don't you let Elon's Space X engineering staff go over the blueprints for the A-10, pull out the lousy engineering and make another production run. From the lessons learned in the Ukraine conflict, shooting up the drone operators in interdiction flights is going to be job one. I'd look for removing weight to add to the fuel load so that loiter time is increased or munitions load for dropping on bad guys.
