And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Per John the River's comment: I scuba dove in the Gulf of California near La Paz, Mexico quite a few years ago. One of the places that we dove had quite a few wild sea lions milling around. Several of the (I'm guessing) males charged toward us in an attempt to make us go away. No one was bitten but we did get out of the water and move on to another dive site.
They bite.
