  3. Yes, it is on purpose. An old Drum Major's move.

  4. Looks surprised a little bit. If nothing else, nice recovery

  5. Standard drum major move, but this one looked like 'good recovery'. Not quite showy enough, and a bit low.

  6. My wife twirled when she was young, and was pretty good at it, and won some major competitions, and she assures me that, despite how impressed we noobs may be, this guy is not very good, at all; and that no, this was not on purpose, and in fact that the video might be doctored -- they might wind it backward at the point that the baton hits the turf, because it seems to return with the same energy it had when it left his hand.

Feel free to call bullshit on her assessment, but she's in the next room polishing her multiple huge twirling trophies and you're not.

I've seen her twirl and it looks like Bruce Lee with numchucks. To get a rise out of her, if we see someone twirling flaming batons I'll look over at her with an impressed look and she'll spit out "that's not real twirling" with the contempt of a purist.

  7. Yes, it's real. Yes, it's on purpose. It's been a standard for years.
