And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Lake Ashi in the Hakon Hills in Early Autumn, by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1938)
My career US Air Force father was stationed in Japan in the late 50's. We lived on Washington Heights in Tokyo. I was a Boy Scout that the summer camp at Lake Ashi Kai at the foot of Mt Fuji. This painting reminds me of my time there. My Scout troop spent a long evening hiking around the lake and another night and morning climbing Mt Fuji. What a great boyhood!!!
That reminds me of the old paint-by-number home hobby projects.
