And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? John of Kronstadt or John Iliytch Sergieff (1829–1908) was a Russian Orthodox archpriest and a member of the Most Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
This was a holy man, much revered in Russia. You people shamefully commenting this filth above shows how much your country is falling spiritually. Terrible.
I am an Orthodox priest. Take a moment and read some of his works. Bless you - the following quote is timely: “ Never confuse the person, formed in the image of God, with the evil that is in him: because evil is but a chance misfortune, an illness, a devilish reverie. But the very essence of the person is the image of God, and this remains in him despite every disfigurement.”
Perhaps the test God gives us is to, first, recognize our broken and sinful nature, and second, to overcome our faults, weaknesses and sins via the laws God gives us, and the path to forgiveness and righteousness clearly set forth in God's holy Word.
I think the tone would change if the commentariat were to actually read some of his writings. Short, pithy, very insightful. They point you to God in the flesh.
