Golden Gate, the bridge that couldn't be built, but was. Wonder how long it would take and how much it would cost to do that today?

  4. Well it's been 10 months since the bridge collapse in Baltimore and it's going to cost over $2B and take four years to rebuild it using the existing footings and today's technology. According to wikipedia the Golden Gate Bridge was completed in four years and was under budget at $610M 2023 dollars adjusting for inflation.

  5. It would be akin to building a bullet train in CA. Can't be done at any cost.

  7. the transcontinental railroad was built from Iowa to the pacific in 3 and a half years. with Zero bulldozers and nothing but shovels and mules .

none of the great accomplishments that were built would never be able to be done today. if the enviromental lawyers would allow it to be built a gonden gate bridge would take 15 or 20 years to be built, and it would have to have five bicycle lanes and you know the govt of california would require it to be painted the colors of the gay flag.

  9. I've always been impressed by the Empire State Building: built in 1930-1931.
