  1. Wonder what it is. Straight beam front axle with a 2-leaf spring? Old. Lots of room down there. I have a ball valve on my pan too, but it's a little more compact, and a lot more secure. You have to be careful - going through the high weeds / brush, it can easily snag and open up without you knowing, until you happen to see the oil pressure at 0 psi.

    1. Some of those valves have a locking mechanism, I'd be scared of that coming open myself. I could see a much smaller valve but it'd have to have a lock and possibly a plug too.

    2. Or just take the handle off and stick it in your toolbox.

  2. I had a Fumoto drain valve on my cars for years to make oil changes a lot easier. Now I use a vacuum evacuator as recommended by Mercedes. Thanks to Mercedes putting the oil filter on top of the engine I can do an oil change without getting underneath the car.

  3. Have a Fumoto on our Subaru Forester, the standard drain plug has a wider than typical thread bore, the oil gushes out so fast its impossible to drain normally without getting splashed in hot oil, the Fumoto cured that.

    1. Probably. Looks like a seal is leaking so that would fit.
