  1. Curtiss Hawk?

a year later she and Bill Powell starred in one of the best screwball comedies ever made, "My Man Godfrey", after having been married and divorced prior.

    1. One of my favourite movies. They are just great together. Also liked Eugene Pallette as the father. He usually plays the gruff police detective. Steve_in_Ottawa

  2. She died in a plane crash (not that one) in 1942.

    1. And immediately afterwards, Clark Gable enlisted in the Army Air Corps.
He was quite content shooting at German fighters from inside a B-17 as an enlisted gunner (figuring that with the love of his life dead, why the hell not?), until the Army forced a commission on him and made him do PR war bond tours instead.

    2. Gable never recovered completely. Lost the love of his life. I can understand that.

  3. Clark Gable and Carole Lombard married in 1939 and spent their honeymoon night at the Oatman Hotel (horrible picture, but you probably get the idea of it's simplicity). The desert surrounding Oatman contains wild burros...descendants of the burros used in mining when that was a thing....and each day, burros will wander into Oatman in search of handouts from the tourists. The citizens of Oatman elected a burro named Walter to be their mayor.

  6. I used Carole Lombard as a template to raise my daughter. Tough, resilient, smart, pretty, marksman and enough women to handle any big ego alive. As a dad this is harder than it looks. Today's society fought me at every turn. From everyone gets a trophy soccer, I am woman hear me roar, ooh the Patriarchy, which personality should I be today to lets get some cats. I succeeded in some areas failed in others.
