And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Dangerous tool. Not only will it rip yer hide off, it's damn difficult to control precisely on a piece of wood. Or even imprecisely. Might be OK to trim tenons on logs for a cabin; otherwise, best kept in the drawer.
I've heard that quilting and knitting are pretty safe hobbies. ANY tool can be dangerous if you don't take the effort to learn to use it correctly. The best tool made for hand planing (except for the great Stanley hand planes) was the Skill # 100 electric 4" plane with a 24" bed. Very hard to find now but worth the hunt! Bubbarust

I have the corded version. I take very little wood off at a pass and I find it quite controllable. I have a table planer for the heavy jobs.
ReplyDeleteAll power tools will snack on you if given the chance.
