And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My idiot nephew crashed through a telephone pole a few weeks ago, on top of the destroyed car he has to pay for the pole & the cost to replace it. $10,000.
$10,000 sounds cheap to me. A PG&E contracted crew replaced a pole in front of my house last summer. It took 7 guys with 2 line trucks and a pickup six hours to change it out.
After watching them all day I was really impressed with how these guys worked together like a well-oiled machine. I even called their company the next day and told them so. There wasn't a slacker among them. The lady I spoke to really appreciated my call and said she'd send my praise on to the crew, who was working away from home.
Photoshop guy forgot to add the sag in all the wires from the weight of the pole, and from the weight of the unsupported wires now spanning twice the supported distance.
So, "nobody needs a self driving car," and we just found a nobody.

ReplyDeleteThat's commonly referred to as a Stoopid Tax.

Anyway, $10,000 seems very reasonable to me.
Damn!
ReplyDeleteThat's not a telephone pole. It's a power line pole. That line probably carries about 20,000 volts.
ReplyDeleteFrom the shape and apparent size, the insulators used on that pole might be rated up to 10,000-volts. Still can cook ya' mighty quick.

ReplyDeletePower companies have been known to charge for the poles on both sides.
