And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Alfa Romeo GTA battles two massive V8 Ford Galaxie. That was fun, thanks Al in Ottawa
Can't imagine them both being on the track at the same time, that Ford got twice the weight and horsepower of the little Alfa. Made props to the drivers of the two Fords, you could tell towards the end the tires were getting soft - they were sliding a little every turn. And yeah, end of the day, I'd take the Ford for street driving over that Alfa any day and twice on Sunday.
They got those two Fords dialed in, watching their roll center, must have done some mad serious suspension mods, both cars barely roll and maintain excellent weight bias shift. Love to race one. Wonder what size engine the rules permit. Watching their rate of acceleration, against the Alpha's, most likely 289 or 302 small blocks. Or totally bone stock larger displacement. Probably unlimited intake and exhaust mods. Looks kind of like IMSHA rules, where you beef up the OEM frame with 8 or 12 point roll cages, strut bracing around the front frame section. I think DonnCurtain is right about their rear tires timing out, the Alpha's too but not so much, thise Fords though, drifting in and out if the corners is some mighty fine driving skills. Great to watch, i like the low camera angle where you can watch the whole car how they handle, couple really gung ho great drivers in my opinion.
One of the announcers sounds like Iain Tyrell.

ReplyDeleteTo be able to drive in a race like that would be very enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThat is an example of why a 20 ton Mig fears a 15 ton F-16 in a dogfight. Centrifugal force is a bitch.

I owned most of these cars except for the Cortina. 427 galaxy, Alfa, BMW 1600. I always made a profit on 356’s. Tom
