And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Google says that one is a '53. A friend had a '51. I helped him overhaul the engine, which was how I learned about splash-feed 216 engines. The strangest engines ever created. Almost no oil pressure at idle in a warm engine. It scares you to look at the gauge.
My Dad was a carpenter in the 50s before becoming a contractor. He had both Chevy and Ford PUs but for some reason he became a GM guy in the 60s and that's all he's had until just last month, at 93, decided to give up driving his Caddy altogether. All of us now breathe a little easier.
That looks a lot like my Dad's '47. He updated it to a '54 six cylinder engine, two ton truck transmission (year model unknown) with the low "Granny Gear", and added air conditioning. I was looking forward to getting it when I got my license, but he wanted a new truck and sold it for next to nothing.
