Planted an apricot tree last year in the backyard, hoping that in a few years I get a harvest like this.

  1. Am I imaging things or does your new apricot tree also grow plumbs?

  2. First plum went in the ground 7 years ago. Last year I even hand-pollinated. STILL no damned fruit.

    1. Whack the tree with a baseball bat a dozen times. It'll fruit next year

    2. Please explain. Seems like a SECOND plum would be a better solution. That's what I've done.

  3. Grew up with 2 very large apricot trees, to this day will not eat them, dried and or fresh along with cherries.

  4. Hope you do. Took 7 years for the row of peach trees we planted. Its worth every second having your own abundance of wholesome toothsome delicacies of natural fruit. one peach tree gave us over a bushel of white peaches. So sweet and juice runs down your chin when you bite into them. Nothing like store bought.

  6. I'd recommend another apricot. After 7 years of 6-12 apricots a year last year we had hundreds of them. Neighbor must have had a pollinator. Also regarding your plums, there are two genus of plums, european or japanese. Make sure if you buy a plum pollinator to buy the same type that you have.

  7. As noted above, try planting two or more of each tree.
Bees should take care of the rest.

We had two plum and two apricot trees in the back yard, and gave away buckets of fruit over the years.
