And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? I don't know why some folks think that it is "weird" to not eat soup or stews or even chili in hot weather. Since my linage is Northern European, we eat cold stuff in the summer and hot stuff in the winter.
You can thrown in more veg's, meats, and juice and I won't complain as long as there is some thick crusty butter bread for soppin' to go along with it. nom nom nom
stumbled across a 10 quart cast iron Dutch oven with lid at St. Vinnies last week , I foresee many batches of stew and other slow cooked goodness from that old iron
Xanthan gum can be bought at the grocery, usually it's with the bread-making stuff. Absolute nuclear-level thickening agent. We use it in the oil patch to thicken up the drilling muds, if it's not too hot downhole. Stuff is amazing.

ReplyDeleteThe wife happens to be making a batch today. She also throws in parsnip, which is great. The above looks like the gravy is a bit watery for my taste.
