  2. Another thing I like about this site, other than "Open Road" and the artwork and all the the interesting stories is the fact that it collects such an intelligent group of viewers/readers that can identify.....planes for instance. Saw this pic and said to myself, "Wow, wonder what make and model that plane is?" Lo and behold, I did not have to wait long! This site is consistently in my top 3 picks to start my day out with! Thanks CW, appreciate all you do to keep me/us entertained!

    1. I bought a new laptop with Win 11. Had no idea what it included but one of the features is every picture it sees has a couple of icons in the upper right corner. Click the one called Visual Search and a box opens on the right.
Tells you what the picture is and gives a bunch of related pages where you can read all about it.

  3. Built to compete in the London to Australia air race in 1934. Possibly the most advanced airplane of its time. Most fighter planes of the day didn't have variable pitch props, retractable landing gear and a closed cockpit.

  4. A faithful replica is at Flabob airport in Riverside, CA. Not large, an aerodynamic masterpiece.
