  2. I had a draft mare, foal and stallion eating apples under a tree and a bear came. The parents don't leave the foal and the foal was not so bright, so the bear charged the mare and she fled with just the claw marks on her rump, the foal was untouched. The stallion fought the bear and he had a very large bite on his neck. I don't know about the bear, but we had been working the stud and he had metal shoes on with borium spikes on the bottom, so the bear was likely not feeling too good after that. My adult horses weight a ton; much larger than a bear and they can kill with their kicks either front hooves or back. Normally black bears don't charge for no reason; their cubs are the number one reason.

  4. If that guy is (can't remember his name) the other mountain man from 1972 movie "Jeremiah Johnson", he won & has the bear's claws around his neck!

If that's not him then maybe he's going to have lunch with the bear.... but those guys were tough so you never know.

  5. The scene looks like deep winter. Why isn't the bear hibernating.
