And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
They probably are Good Quality, but they are also Made in China. Even our beloved Zeiss couldn't resist in the end. Swiss, German, and Austrian optics are getting harder and harder to find. With Leica, Zeiss, Leupold (historically USA) and other optics you always gotta read the fine print. One hint will be whether the price tag contains 4 digits or not.
I prefer Steiner brand. They are a bit more robust. And a decent pair of binocs will start at about $500 and go up from there. Optics truly are a "you get what you pay for" subject. And nobody beats the Swiss and Germans in terms of quality.
I love my Steiner XC binocular. Great quality and a fabulous sight picture.
BTW, they proudly say 'Steiner Germany' right on them. I bought them for $300, and if you bide your time you can probably get an equally good steal if you keep a sharp eye on the Midway USA website. They're always offering great sale prices on good stuff.
I spent $1000 on a Zeiss 10x40 set about 40 years ago. The glass is worth every penny. You can look thru them all day long without eyestrain. Even today they still look like they're new.
I’d like to do a side by side comparison with Kowa’s binoculars. I’ve used Kowa’s spotting scopes. That fluoride coating was the best I’ve ever seen. It would be great to see which is truly the best.

ReplyDeleteAt the rate I go through binoculars I ain't paying $500 for a pair. I get mine from the pawn shop & $50 is about the limit.
ReplyDeleteAre you related to Admiral Rozhestvensky of the Russian 2nd Pacific Squadron? :-)

Of course it's good quality. It's German!
ReplyDeleteNope, not German. It's a German brand. The binos are a product of the People's Republic of China.
