Seriously labor intensive farming. I do have a few questions though. How is it irrigated? Naturally or did they plumb some irrigation to each terrace? What are they growing? Is the harvest brought up the mountain or is it all brought down to the river for transport?
My grand parents and uncles were sod busters in Kansas and I thought they had it difficult. Whew!
I'm betting its watered by runoff. Those steep mountains likely squeeze every drop of moisture out of any clouds that come by and up-slope. Typically rice is grown this way, but typically you see much wider plateaus...but then these hills/mountains certainly don't allow for bigger.
Generations of labor but now they can farm the gorge.
