And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Looks like the Koolau Range on Oahu in Hawaii, the only place I've been near the top is at the Pali lookout and there is always enough wind that I'd never think of putting a tent there. But the mountain is a long one with room for most anything.
There is a trail that runs from the North Shore south along the crest of the Koolau Range. It is narrow and often quite muddy depending on cloud cover, yes you are inside the clouds, and time of year. I've travelled most of it on different occasions. Some spots are vertically sheer on either side of the 2 - 3 foot wide trail, some fall away gently landward along connecting ridgelines coming up from the center of the island. There are a few helicopter landing platforms along the trail. A tough trail considering what equipment you need to carry.
I wonder how much shit, literal and figurative, has tumbled down those hills over the eons....Scarecrow

ReplyDeleteThe most commonly used term for "perch" is for birds and birds have wings. The species on this perch in this pic are sometimes stupider than birds.
