  1. One of the prettiest of the -80 series of fighter jets.

  2. Agreed.......but the F-86C is the prototypical image of "jet fighter" in my mind and by far the prettiest....:))

  3. It was the first very sleek looking aircraft. Moving the intake from the nose to the wing roots so cameras could be put up in the nose did it.

  4. Appears to be a YRF-84F, based on the canopy configuration and the FS number. I believe the production models had less canopy framing.

  5. Production F-84F was a very nice looking bird.

  6. They used painted up F-84F to simulate MiG 15s fighting the F-86s in the excellent movie (for the time) “The Hunters”

  7. Maybe I'm just old and remember things in a certain frame of mind. But it seems most aircraft from that era, both military and civilian, had styling as well as aerodynamics in mind when designed.
