Round 'em up

  1. Gently. No need for the arm flapping. It's called the art of gentle stock handling. And it is an art.
When I worked our cattle I preferred not to have help from cowboys because, well, they're cowboys. My dog was all the help I needed.
Saw a guy pushing beeves parallel to a fence like that once and all he did was get them buzzed up to the point that he was running them sideways into the barb wire. Not too bright.

  2. One of the neighbors heifers got loose and was out in the road. I got her started towards the barn with a little hand clapping and just followed her on up. She was awful sheepish, I think she knew she was a naughty cow.
