And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That's not what the analysis said. What the folk at Washington did was rate the quality of the studies with respect to the degree of risk. What they found was that the quality of studies had a higher risk of bias, and thus lower quality. So, they didn't say that red meat was "safe" with respect to heart disease, they just said that it wasn't really proven, which is different. They did not evaluate meat consumption with respect to cancer. The biggest problem with these kinds of re-evaluations is that classifying "bias" can itself be "biased" since it's pretty subjective.
The other issue is that the possibility of bias does not mean that the study is wrong. For instance, and "open label" study (in which the participants know whether they are getting the test drug or not) is prone to bias. However, if the study shows and effect, the possibility of bias does not mean that it *was* biased, and it doesn't mean the effect does not exist.
You're one of those California people who actually believe when the government says everything causes cancer, including fresh air and clean water, aren't you?
When every study fails to show a definite link, that doesn't mean there is a link. It means there isn't. And humans have been surviving on meat for, well, as long as there have been humans.
Did the studies take into account the differences in Red Meat? For example, I eat as much venison as I can take (and other game) which seems to me to be markedly different from pork and beef. Then there are the differences in pork and beef that are either free range and what is raised and fattened on feed lots. I was fortunate enough one year to eat mostly what I hunted and grew, and wish I felt as good now as I did then. I think there may well be a link.
Clearly, anon has no sense of humor. And McChuck is probably correct, this anon is from commiefornia, likely one of the larger urban centers mainly populated by fruits and nuts. Besides - Woody Allen nailed in in that movie where he went to the future and by then, all the scientists knew that smoking cigarettes and eating red meat was actually very good for your health.
There are a number of people who are now questioning the food pyramid.
"Interpretation: High carbohydrate intake was associated with higher risk of total mortality, whereas total fat and individual types of fat were related to lower total mortality. Total fat and types of fat were not associated with cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, or cardiovascular disease mortality, whereas saturated fat had an inverse association with stroke. Global dietary guidelines should be reconsidered in light of these findings."

And consider that Prince Philip lived to 99 (two months from 100 IIRC) and he ate lots of meat and fried everything in butter. https://www.mashed.com/378627/heres-what-prince-philip-would-eat-in-a-day/
Take my word for it; after over 70 years of eating red meat,, there are dire consequences... You can't wipe the smile off your face when you read stupid bs like this crap made up by poorly educated so-called scientists we have today! Oh, the other is a nicely full belly! Bubbarust
Taking scrubby, barely there nibbles of grass and turning it into red delicious marbled slices of steak is a miracle I will never understand, but I'm all in!! Bubbarust
Like I would change anything even IF I believed their study? How many times in Your life have you woken up to Another Guvvamint Study and discovered Bacon is surely gonna kill you? Local hospital feeds bacon and eggs for breakfast to heart surgery patients. I didn't play it safe, living. I'm gonna Eat chunks of COW! And pigs, pigs, too.
We can eat every animal on the planet but can eat less than 0.1% of plants, and it is very difficult to get a balanced diet on those plants, where as meat is easy. I love me some carbs, especially barley and potato based - but fatty meat is healthy. We need large amounts of fat, not just for calories, but because it is a major component of our bodies (cell walls are mostly fat). Reference? "Why we get fat" written by an endocrinologist. OBTW, diabetes can be cured if caught early via fasting and is cause by too much sugar and carbs in the diet. Giving more insulin to an insulin resistant person is like trying to cure drowning by pouring more water on top.
Xoph nails it. For info on a healthy low-carb diet, see, "Eat Rich, Live Long" by I. Cummins. The high-carb health advice of the last 60 years or so is revealed to be based on poor experiments. BTW, oils & fats to avoid are all from seeds (corn, rape/canola, safflower, sunflower, etc.) Originally these were never intended for human consumption, just machine lubrication! Fry in coconut oil or Ghee, preferably organic, for great health benefits.
I pretty much eat nothing but animal protein like venison, my chickens/eggs or grass finished beef(don't care too much for pork) salt and spring water. I'm in my 70s, very active, take no prescription drugs, have yearly blood workups with no problems, enjoy intimate times with my gal and my #1 Rule of Life is I don't believe a fucking thing the government says.
I do fall off the wagon so to speak every year when Hatch Chiles are available, love green chile.
Good. I knew it.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Just in time for unaffordable meat.

Sorry. I have to disagree.
ReplyDeleteRed meat helps create a healthy brain, explaining why democrats are so afraid of meat.
