And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

2.000-year-old Medusa mosaic, which adorns the orchestra section of Odeon in the ancient city of Kibyra in what is now Turkey.
I look at that art in the middle of the old architecture and ask myself "Is that real?" or "Is that possible?" and I have to come away with "I don't think so."
The Old Romans really made an impact on the Med. Its just a pity that we moderns don't take note and use their better ideas & actions more.
