A CT Scanner (Computerised Tomography) with its outer panels removed.

  1. The equipment inside the gantry....spins at more than one rotation per second and acquires as many as 256 images at a resolution of 1024 squared for each rotation. A typical scan of an abdomen can acquire over a thousand images in less than 8 seconds. And all those images are processed and available for review within a few seconds of acquisition. And people wonder why the cost of a CT scan is so high.

  2. Amazing technology, but it looks like it could grind large hunks of meat into little chunks.

  4. I’ve been on the ride over a hundred times at MD Anderson. The contrast feels like a shoot of tequila in you veins, but with out the pleasant after effect.
