Mmyeah, that's a very tough question. Obviously, if Putin nukes some part of Ukraine, Ukraine can't reciprocate. But should NATO? Should the US? Part of me worries that any nuclear use can escalate to an all-out nuclear exchange by all parties, which is the argument to never start down towards Armageddon. But the other part of me believes that the hypothetical of Putin launching a tactical nuke...however small...has to be responded to. He can't be allowed to benefit in any way for going there. Someone would have to make him feel more pain than he inflicts on others.
The question shouldn't be to see who laughs last, but to see who cries the least. Nobody wins, IMO.

This Ukrop "Counteroffensive" has been Talked Up for Weeks. The Red Army certainly saw the Buildup on the Line of Contact, in a Sector that they did not have a lot of Troops. So the Speed of their Retreat looks like it is Planned, to Draw the Enemy into a "Cauldron" (Bulge, in US Terms) and then Cut them Off, and Pound them into the Ground.
