And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The Crown Vic and the Customline are both '55. The difference between '55 and '56 in the grille is not subtle. I'm not sure of a lot of things but I know my '49 through '59 Fords. Google '56 and '55 Fords.
Kudos to those that know their '55s from their '56s. The first new car my Dad ever bought was a '56 Ford Wagon. He was 37 years old at the time! (He had three kids that he was already making payments on. Heh).
Anyway, I knew there was something different on the cars in the picture from dear Dad's first new ride. Now I know what it is. Thanks!
Definitely '55s all around. My second car was a '55 Tudor Victoria (not a Crown). 3 speed on floor (conversion) with a 272 V8. Nosed with '60 Dodge Dart taillights; Lucas Flamethrowers (independent of other lights) with a switch to kill the brake lights - don't ask!
What year are the cars? My guess is 1955.
ReplyDeletemiddle one is a '56 Crown Victoria, the right one is a '55 four door sedan. (I'm sure on the '56 not the '55.)
ReplyDeleteThe 1956 had oval turn signal lights. Those are 1955.
DeleteI should know that as I had a '55 town sedan. nice rides tho.
Delete55's

Always loved that car, never was able to get one. Classic.
ReplyDeleteMy first car was a 55 Ranch Wagon bought in 1965 for $250. It had a rebuilt 292 c.i. engine and overdrive transmission. Fun car!
