And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Just watched Brando in "On the Waterfront."
Anna Kashfi slapping her ex husband Marlon Brando outside the courtroom. Brando had just won visitation rights for their son Christian Brando, 1961.
Brando's personal life was - ahem - tempestuous, to say the least. He had at least 11 children.
Christian went on to shoot the boyfriend of his pregnant (half) sister in the face, in dad's living room in Hollywood, while drunk (0.19), in what Cheyenne Brando described as cold-blooded murder. He pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and got 10 years. Cheyenne battled mental issues, committing suicide in Tahiti a few years later, and Christian died at age 49.
This is one of those cases where the best thing for humanity might have been a strategic vasectomy circa 1960.
And his movies stank.
ReplyDeleteAll other things being equal, I'd watch a Brando movie if it was on.

Brando was stoiking every thing with a pulse.
