  1. What caliber are these derringers? Maybe .38?

  2. Also, is this what they refer to as a "snake slayer"? I heard that reference recently while watching an old "Longmeyer" episode.

    1. Good for both kinds of snakes. Mine was a 9mm. Seems hard to believe as they are a rimless cartridge. It had a special apparatus to compensate. Kick wasn't that bad and if you're using it adrenaline will be high enough to overcome it. Problem is the trigger pull is not only high(think about curling a gallon of milk with your index finger) because of the lack of a guard but has to be pulled at a specific angle not straight back. 3. I heard that they are so small, the recoil makes them fly out of your hand - no way to hold on because there's nothing to hold on to.

    1. You heard wrong. I have an original snake slayer that chambers .45LC cartridge and 410 shotgun shells. A 3" shell will definitely recoil, but the weight of the gun diminishes most of it.

  4. I used to work at a gunshop that sold these things. About half of them would not fire right out of the box. If you need a gun buy a real one......

  5. $2000 worth of engraving on a $350 firearm. Proof that some people have more money than brains.

  6. If they won't fire the first time and every time, they should be sold with a cheap casket.

  7. We used to sell alot of them, never had one come back except for the ex-employee who took his apart and couldn't fix it.

I have shot more handguns than I can remember from 22 to 500 including one of these and never ever came close to losing my grip on any of them. Those who talk about such things lack real-world experience.

  8. Use to see the original designer and owner of Bond Arms at the Fort Worth gunshows. Would bring his two young daughters with him. They always seemed to doing their school work, Figured they were home schooled same as my son. Always a polite and by talking with the owner I could see where they got their manners. Google their website and read their history. Well build weapons.

  9. I stacked one of those on top of my .357 snub nose revolver.

Almost the same size and weight, but 5 shots double action vs 2 with a manual cock of the hammer. No thanks.
