And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Agreed. I'd put the charger on it and try it. If it wouldn't stay running I'd figure bad gas. Drain the tank and put in fresh and try again. Doesn't look like it's been sitting there more than a few years.
My folks had a '68 Firebird. Green with a black vinyl top. It was a rocket ship. I used to 'borrow' it to deliver my morning papers. That worked well until I backed into a phone pole. When my Dad saw the damage he said "I'd like to kill you". My reply was "I wish you would".
I'd have that running in less than two hours. Whether or not it would move is a whole nuther story though. My Dad ordered a 69 Firebird from the factory. That thing was a screamer and I remember it well.
That is a 1967 Firebird. The '69 had separate headlight doors (surrounds). The '67 & '68 headlights were in the grille opening. The '68 which is virtually identical to the '67, had wrap around parking lights for the new side marker requirement. Thus, it's a '67.
In 67 the small V8 was 326 cu in as the 327 was a Chevy block. The top engine was the 400 cu in platform. In 68 the smaller engine option was the 350 cu in, but not the same as the 350 chevy. The 400 was also an option but again these were not the same as the later 400 cu in chevys, as they were bored and stroked 350 platform. Of course later they mixed the "GM" engines so you would have to be an expert which I are not.( Missing too many brain cells at this stage of my life)
Too far gone?
ReplyDeleteNot even close. Hell, with a fresh battery, it might even start.

Delete'69 Firebird
ReplyDeleteRemind me, was the OHC I6 Sprint version in '69?

I suvived the experience.
I love you, Dad.0
Please ignore the 0 after 'Dad'. I'm relaxing with my second shot of Bourbon after a hard day of listening to Leftist horsecrap. Cut me some slack.
DeleteWell, Elmo, I backed Dad's 64 Ford into a ditch and had to call the wrecker to get it out. Ooopsie! He was just about as thrilled as your father was.
DeleteThe overhead cam 6 Sprint engine was available in the '67 - I had one. Also available in '68 & '69.
Delete67 firebird. No side marker lights. Side marker lights were required from 68 on.

ReplyDeleteToo far gone? Just right for those of us that don't live in Jesse's neighborhood! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteNah, a good power wash and a tune up is all it needs, maybe a new pine tree skunk killer on the rear view mirror.
ReplyDeleteMy first car. '67, gold with black vinyl top. Just a stock 327 but still a fun car to drive.
ReplyDeleteIt's a 68. I know, as I have a convertible 400. 67's have the ventipane side windows and 69's had a different front bumper.

I had the same car.White with Red interior.
DeleteI put a 421 in it.
Long time ago...so...not exactly sure.
DeleteI believe it was a 421 (or 428?) from a Bonneville
Anywho....it could pass anything but a gas station.
