Early in his career, while he was still punching cows, he would often include sketches in letters he wrote to friends and would sometimes even illustrate the envelopes those letters were sent in. Those letters and envelopes are now highly prized works of art by the collectors and museums that have the originals.

    Charlie Russell was a one of a kind work of art himself.

  2. Lots of his originals in the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

  3. The CM Russell museum in Great Falls Montana was quite a cool experience. Way more interesting than I expected.
