And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My dad bought a red one in the early 60's. We called it the doodlebug. The dashboard and steering wheel swung out with the door, the peddles were on the floor at the edge of the door, and the shifter was on the left wall. The one cylinder engine was on the rear right side. The 2 back tires were real close together and the whole thing was so lightweight it would tip severely when you got in it.
When I was in the 8th grade I used to cross the UNM campus to go from home to school and back. I would sometimes see one of these in silver. Years later I made the acquaintance of the no longer young lady that owned the beast.
Pretty popular in post war Europe though.
