And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My old nap time buddy Camo (he looked a lot like the hiccuping cat) passed away last winter (he was actually eaten; by what I'm not sure). He was a great mouser and was no trouble at all, other than he liked to bring his trophies into the house and stash them under the bride's bed. About three months ago suddenly appeared a little tortoise cat. I'm not sure she's feral but she sure was skinny. Anyhow, after suddenly appearing she's now officially adopted and doing really well. She even uses Camo's old topsoil pile outside the kitchen door to do her thing. Funny how these things work out. But I still miss my little nap time buddy.
Great story, Elmo. That particular cat - Boots - is getting to be a good bed sleeper, curling up and not causing any trouble all night. He also likes to bring his prey in the house and drop it for us to admire. There's still maybe a bluebelly lizard in the front room somewhere....
We have 4, 2 short haired torties, 2 long haired domestics - tricolor, all gurls, ages 7-10. All are inside cats and I built a 2 story screened in porch on the back of the house for them to lounge in on nice days. They're all out there right now snoozin. Would never think about letting them outside to become coyote or hawk supper.
