Lieutenant John Bawden, Royal Navy, picking up members of a Gurkha patrol during jungle operations in the Malayan emergency, 1956, He was killed the following November after his helicopter suffered a malfunction and crashed.

  1. The "Jesus Nut" that kept the rotor on came off (a failing of that airship) and the rotor went one way with torque and all and the helicopter followed the demands of gravity.
