And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've been making my own hard cider for decades. I make a German Apfelwein style that is the favorite drink in the Frankfurt area. Completely dry (no residual sugars) and nicely tart; it is the best drink with pork dishes. Pretty damn good with Asian and Hispanic cuisines, too.
There is a streetcar in Frankfurt that takes you on a tour of the city while they serve you Apfelwein (Ebblewoi in the local dialect) and pretzels, Highly recommended.
They say that you shouldn't decide whether you like the stuff until you've consumed two glasses full.
Great for the digestive tract, btw.
Hard cider was the way one got one's 'apple a day'.
I read that before prohibition all apple cider was hard, I guess it still is in the rest of the world.
