And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I inherited a cubic bunch of cast iron cookware. Was surprised when Lodge came out with enamel (10 or so years ago(?))-- Imagine my chagrin when I found it's chinesium. I was told it's discontinued. Might make good HE or AP ammo.
Yeah, they already did away with the flat lid on their old Dutch oven, so you can't bake outdoors anymore. Now, maybe they'll quit making black iron entirely.
They still sell the real dutch ovens, https://www.lodgecastiron.com/product/camp-dutch-oven?sku=L10CO3 I've been to the factory store in South Pittsburg Tennessee a couple of times, once a year they have factory tours.
Don't know about the chinesium aspect, but I have one of these in red and have used it with high frequency for years. One of my favorite kitchen tools.
I waited for the sale and bought a Staub - man I use that thing all the time. Bake/stew the chicken, eat, use the same pot to make the chicken soup leftovers. Much batter than black iron if you're cooking acid-y dishes.
Me too. Got an unpopular color (Aubergine/eggplant) of the 6 qt coq au vin pot at an after Christmas sale for a steep discount from its normally outrageous price. Great piece.
My little sisters maid of honor was the daughter of the family that owns Lodge. Super nice folks, and they brought the company from the brink of extinction in the 70s to what they are today. A lot of that was out of a sense of responsibility for their employees. Very down to earth folks.
Not cheap stuff, prices vary from $40.00 to $136.00 depending on where you purchase and size of piece aka 1.5 quart up to 7.5 quart. Never put in dishwasher and never ever get rid of old cast iron pans, never know when one has to cook out doors on a open flame.

ReplyDeleteAll of Lodge’s enamel cookware are made in China. No thanks.

I don't think they're gonna quit making that stuff anytime soon...
BTW, they still make the camp ovens with the ridged flat lids and three legs.
