Grind it off

  1. Not cheap. They are considered to be disposable. The rider fell and bailed. The peg is being consumed while bleeding off speed. If it doesn't hit anything solid before it stops sliding, bolt on a couple replacement parts and get back to riding (or racing).
The shifter has a spring loaded tip, designed to do just what you see. Should be good to go when it is picked up off the pavement.

Early on in racing, I thought that folding pegs were the way to go, but after having a few instances where the peg wasn't in place when shifting my foot position, I decided that solid was better. Also, it gives you more clearance when it is sliding, unless you are way high in triple digit speed, then steel pegs would be better, as they last a bit longer.
