And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I had access to two of what is shown. One had no brakes, which is not much of a problem when one knows of that. Having no brakes actually makes one a better driver, if not contemplative.
The other had squishy brakes, the kind which are soft as a pillow. That was the more hazardous because it might lure the driver to accept more risk, say being less inclined to watch downhill speed which could get one in a pickle quickly.
Even so, both were a hoot to drive. And being simple machines they are very easy to work on.
This is the same thing I used to drive on a South Texas hunting ranch, except the one I drove had a game box on the back - basically a 3 ft bed extension that bolted on and used the original tailgate. Miss it, a lot.
got one just like it out back in a shed, well except rusty and not running in the last ten years. my "retirement project" that never i got to. and yes, i have an m1919a4 ready to go on it if i get her going again. just need two things, time and money, lol.

As Tazio Nuvolari said, "Brakes just slow you down."

ReplyDeleteI have always wanted one of these....do not care about the color...that is an easy MAACO fix!

Speed limited to 45 mph but there's an outfit that will re-chip it.
Not legal for street use but the same outfit will get you an ATV plate.
If I owned that, it would be Army Green or Navy Gray. Love those old Jeeps.
