The F-35 Thunderjug will be far more impressive if it ever lives up to 1/2 of the hype, and 1/10th of the cost, for this gold-plated pot of nightsoil with wings.
When it's all over and done, all the services will wish, fondly, that they'd simply resurrected the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, and cranked out thousands and thousands of them, for the same price, 50 times the capability, and 20 times the service longevity and reliability.

VX-9 is the test and evaluation squadron for the Navy and Marine Corps.
ReplyDeleteThere used to be VX-4 at NAS Point Mugu (late 80's-early 90's) that had the black bunny F-4. There was also VX-5 in the early 70's that had an A-6.
