And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Reminds me of an old joke. Guy gets reamed on a divorce, goes into a biker bar to drown his sorrows. Gets completely schnockered, lifts his whiskey and yells out "Lawyers Are Assholes!! whereupon a huge, hairy-backed, bald-headed, biker in greasy leathers rushes over, grabs his lapels, lifts him off the ground and yells "You better take that shit back!"
Guy stammers out, "geez, sorry, rough day, SORRY...what, are you a lawyer?"
Biker drops him, turns on his heel, goes back to his pool game, says "No - I'm an ASSHOLE!"
In the past 10 years I have worked on 2 biography's of that dood, one was "The Golden Lad" and he was a total asshole.

What became of those biographies? And yes, he was known to be asshole from top to bottom.
DeleteAsshole indeed, but was he as big an asshole as Woody Wilson?

ReplyDeleteTeddy was a brilliant bad ass.
Created the National Park system.
DeleteThreatened to take his Winchester lever action into Congress and shoot some of the bastards...high marks from me for that sentiment.
ReplyDeleteHe referred to the '95 as his "little 30" iirc.
DeleteGeorge Bush of his time, without the manners. I've heard it said.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but that comment just does not compute! George H.W. Bush? Please clarify. I in no way think of GHWB as a "badass."
DeleteSorry, I was unclear. Reputation as a conservative, advanced progressive values.
