  1. I was "What the heck?" until I recognized the little dots on the beach as people and then it's true scale kicked in. The Russian ground-effect missile carrier.

  2. A weird picture, somehow futuristic because of the unfamiliar machine. You kind of expect to see Charlton Heston in there somewhere, dressed in an animal skin.

  3. This should be the wreck of one of the soviet's Lun-class "ekranoplans" - ground-effect vehicles developed and used during the '80. Pretty interesting concept still in limited use today, because it needs relatively flat ground (or water) to work...
