  8. ....these terraces began on a barren mountainside. Try to imagine every rock and basket of backfill dirt for the terraces being humped in. Even more mindboggling, consider the logistics of sheltering-feeding-managing the necessary labor force. And someone, somewhere had THE plan. Recall reading that based on some criteria, the Incan population “tithed” labor or foodstuffs to projects such as Machu Pichu. Makes the US Selective Service System a 2-year vacation.
    Trash or privy pits being an archeologist’s delight, I’m not aware of such a treasure trove being found near similar sites. It’s almost as if once finished, turnkey operations included a massive field-day cleanup.
