Prairie Fire

  1. Living in South Dakota I remember seeing these, they were not fun to drive through and the farmers were not happy either.

  2. This is possibly an intentionally set and controlled fire based on the straight line it follows on the east side. Burn off of the year prior grass. This is done annually in the Kansas Flint Hill area. Black as pitch for a week and then the Bluestem grass, naturally high in protein, turns green quickly. Cows are then sent to graze.
