A wrecked F-100 Voodoo in the Alaskan tundra

  1. I think it was the F-101 that was called the Voodoo.

  2. Looks like an F-101 Voodoo (MacDac) which was a twin engine T tail fighter. You can see the engine pods along the sides of the fuselage. The F-100 was the single engine super sabre and the fuselage was a lot more cylindrical.

  3. More details in the comments of this video. Looks like the pilot made it out OK... ejected, landed in a lake, nearly succumbed to exposure before rescue.

  5. Back in 83' I flew down to the Kenai Pennisula to salmon fish with my brother, I got a kick out of the airstrip, when planes eat it when landing they just left the wreckage sitting off the side of the runway. There were 4 or 5 wrecks. It had an amazing way of focusing your attention to your own landing. PS: Don't bother fishing the Russian River, it is like fishing on a Los Angeles freeway at rush hour. people fishing 6-8ft apart both sides of that skinny little river up and down river as far as you could see. It sucked. Kenai River was great.
