I was flying along the coast of Florida near Tyndall AFB in Panama City back in the late 70's when a flight of 106's took off about a mile north of my position and climbed rapidly out of sight.....damn showoffs....I was in a 172....I always thought that was something that a plane from the 50's stayed in service as a front line fighter for so long....last of the century series....I wonder if that photo is at Eglin AFB....

  3. These were the point of the spear for our air defense against bombers in the 60's and 70's. Thank God, we never had to use them.
