  1. I just love the looks of the C model the best.

  2. "C" models do have appeal but the "D" had that plus it cooked & typed. Oddly enough, I prefer Razorback P-47's to the bubble-top. Then there's that other bubble-top; '62 Chevy Impala.

    1. '62 was the best looking of that genre, IMMHO....I worked at a Standard station in high school....owner's son had a maroon on maroon with a 327 4 speed "rock crusher".....man I loved that car....

  3. Actually the "B" and the "C" are the same aircraft, only built in two different factory's. The B-C was faster, higher ,lighter, and had more range than the DOG. The "D" had more armor, bomb racks, two extra guns and more ammo. ALL models of the P-51 were 40 MPH slower than the A-26 attack bomber, and could not keep up with the B-29 on the way to-or back from Japan. The P-47 was better in every way except range, and it beat the P-51 on range with the "N" model.---Ray

    1. Hard to beat that sexy name...."Mustang", though "Thunderbolt" wasn't bad....A-26 was a helluvan airplane....used right into Viet Nam....test pilot school at Pax River used to have one....
